The PreWar Binoculars mod adds a lot of immersion to the game using a pair of Binoculars. All you have to do is sprint at a wall whilst holding your weapon. This is a big feature that the Fallout game is lacking by default. Take Cover allows you to take cover behind objects when in 3rd Person, and allow you to lean out and shoot which adds a lot of immersion to the game. So this is one that you’ll need to decide on yourself. This will make enemies much easier to kill, so it will save you a lot of ammo and effort.
Realistic survival damage is a simple mod that increases the multiplier of your damage dealt to enemies from 0.5 to 2. There may be clipping in places, but it will help you build the best looking character with the best stats. More Armour Slots will allow you to wear 5 extra pieces of armour on top of anything that would instead fill those slots. It’s not a necessary modification but it may help you out at some points in the game if you’re about to die or if you just feel like doing a bit of cheating.
